you know, i've visited a lot of military type sites and you would not believe how many civilian asian men play this game called airsoft or milsim. hundreds of thousands. they're all dressed up, pretending to be special forces or navy seals, pretending to do (and massively documenting) what real soldiers and marines do in iraq and afghanistan. these wannabes take pictures in every pose and even photoshop themselves to look like they're overseas. i've seen pictures of filipino airsofters pretending to be green berets (for some reason, airsofters the world over all play dress up as american forces, and elite forces at that) scamming a ride in a helicopter to further fuel their delusions. unbelievable! meanwhile, in the real military, there is roughly one asian/pacific islander infantry soldier in a company of 130 men. maybe two or three. it would be amazing if all the wannabes, who i'm sure all believe they have "more important" things to do with their lives, served in the military like the japanese nisei in world war 2.
