so today i wanted to connect to my wifi internet access at home and i tried to set up my samsung infuse mobile phone to connect to the internet using my home cable connection. i keep seeing this error on my connections that said 'Obtaining ip address from mywwrs45g...

but i would never connect, it just kept giving me that message.

i was trying to figure out why i would not connect, i thought my phone was broken. my first thought was to return the phone back to att. so i troubleshooted more. i figured its a new phone, it can't be broken. so i tried using my laptop to connect to my wireless network. it didnt work. so it automatically point to the problem with the wireless router its not giving an ip address to my phone and to my laptop.

so next, i troubleshoot the router. i changed my wep key, after changing my wep key, still, no luck. kept seeing this message: obtaining ip address from ....

so what gives, my next move was to reset my router. before i did that though, i made a backup copy of my current running configuration in the admin panel. then i reset to factory defaults. the factory defaults comes without any security, so anyone can get an ip address with wifi. so after rebooting my router, i saw it on my phone, i connected, and booom!!!, it worked. so the next thing i had to think about was i might be entering the wrong WEP key on my phone. since i am using a long 126bit key, it might have entered a typo somewhere. and guess what, thats what it was. so i re-entered the wep key, and finally it worked.

no then, i uploaded my previous configuration to the router. after it rebooted, i tried connecting again from my phone and boom, no more error saying: obtaining ip address from ...

this time i got an ip address. so what did i learned from this. i think that the android system should warn you that you have entered a wrong password for the wireless, instead of just displaying a message 'obtaining ip address from .....' dont you think so?
