Hiding and showing a div is really easy. It's done through Javascript (also known as ECMAscript). First, define your default class style: <style> .show { display: block; } .hide { display: none; } </style> Then, define your div: <div id="mydiv" class="show" style="background: #A0A0DF" onclick="ToggleShowHide(\ is the title. <div id="mydiv_html" class="hide" style="background: #D0D0FF"> This is some sample text. </div> </div> And then your Javascript function: function ToggleShowHide(id) { elem=document.getElementB if (elem.style.display=="blo elem.style.display="none" else elem.style.display="block the above HTML code, mydiv is set to the class "show", and mydiv_html is set to the class "hide". Each has a separate background, and mydiv has an "onclick" event that, when fired by the user clicking the mydiv element, it calls the Javascript code. So when the user clicks anywhere on the mydiv element, the ToggleShowHide() function is called and is passed the string 'mydiv_html'. The function checks the display style: if it's "block" (display the element), then set it to "none" (don't display the element); if it's none, then set it to block. These are the methods I know of to manipulate DIV displays: 1) display toggles visibility and space usage div.style.display=( visibility toggles whether content is visible, but space is still taken div.style.visibilit appends and removes a child from a div if (show) parentNode.appendChild(di parentNode.removeChild(di declaring two CSS classes, and manipulating the class directly <style> .visible { display: block; } .invisible { display: none; } </style> div.class=(sho use mostly #1 and part of #4 in the above example code. It's unknown how this system would affect multiclassed elements. It's worth testing.
