Stock tension rods will wear out over time even under normal driving condition. The upgraded tension rods has teflon PILLOWball joint that will reduce flex. This means tighter steering response and feedback.

these are some advantages and features:

* teflon (self lubricating) PILLOWball joints
* Strong and durable construction
* Replacement for worn out stock units
* Reduce flex, and provide tighter steering response and feedback

so my 1996 nissan 300zx i had to replace mine cuz the stock ones where bad. everytime i steer left or right i would hear something pop.
