there is no way for php to detect that, as php just serves from the web server like apache, as you said, php is a server side language, and javascript is clien-side, so the code you give to the user from the server(php) it runs on the uers browser. there are way however, you can get javascript information and save it in cookies. so next time the user loads the page, you have a variable from the javascript. but you have to use cookies..
