PCI-X and PCI-e backwards compatible NOT! Who fed you that?
PCI-X is a parallel standard of PCI with sometimes a wider bus and/or higher clock speed depending on the version. PCI-e is serial communications with various versions having multiple serial lines to communicate. Thus PCI-X and PCI-e are NOT interchangeable and in fact PCI-X cards are longer and will not even fit in the slots. So Mike, did Dell mark this one wrong? PCI-X is backwards compatible with older PCI down to version 2
