i have a wallpaper directory on my linux server and i was wondering if you can give me that command to compress a tar file in the unix shell comand.

its easy lets say you want to tar the wallpapers/ directory in /home/walls/wallpapers/ so the first step is to login to the shell then send this command:

1. change to the directory:

cd /home/walls/

2. then create a tar file

tar -pczf public_html.tar.gz wallpapers
