1. speed - the main reason why people build fiber networks is because of bandwidth. fiber offer a bigger bandwidth for transferring large loads of information
2. security - unlike copper cables, with fiber, you cannot tap into the cable, if you tried, it will break the circuit and it will become useless
those are the main two.
how about disadvantages??
than number one disadvantage is cost.. its more expensive to deploy a fiber network than a copper network.
