are you considering buying a SSD hard drive? if so, let me tell you. they are amazing fast.. you wont believe how fast your web pages load. everything loads so fast. its incredible. no CPU or amount of memory can match that type of performance. BUT

yes, there is something you are giving up for the performance.. its reliability. they dont last long. they break so easy and they are expensive. much more expensive than traditional drives.

so why get them? because they are very fast. you have to try one. but if you install on on your computer, its better to have a backup plan.

for example, these are two ways i can think of balancing this performance with lack or reliability.

1. install the OS and Apps only on the SSD drive and save all your data on the traditional (spinning) hard drive.

2. create a RAID 1 by using two SSD drives, so in case one goes fails, you have the other one.

i bought a SSD drive about two months ago and it failed today. im so mad because i didnt know that SSD drives dont last very much, now i am shooting myself in the foot for not backing up my data. so much work is gone.. :(
