Born: on 09/07/73 in Houston, Texas

Dark-haired, with olive skin and sultry good looks, Shannon Elizabeth first gained notice as sexually precocious Czech exchange student Nadia in 1999's summer hit comedy "American Pie". Elizabeth's partially nude scene in the film, the Playboy layout that followed, and her popular photo-intensive Web site made her a favored lust object among young American men, giving an added boost to her up-and-coming career. Of Syrian descent, the actress had an exotic allure that belied her all-American Texas roots.

On television, Elizabeth took guest roles on the TV series "Step by Step" (CBS) and "USA High" (USA Network), before her "American Pie" fame, and her high-profile guest shot on an episode of USA Network's supernatural action comedy "GvsE" quickly followed the film's release. She additionally had a small role in the Fox TV adventure movie "Blade Squad" (1998) and co-starred as a psychopathic teen in the TV movie thriller "Dying to Live" (UPN, 1999).

In features, Elizabeth debuted opposite a serial killing snowman in the 1997 campy horror flick "Jack Frost" and portrayed a brainy stripper with a heart of gold in the independent "Dish Dogs" (1998) alongside Matthew Lillard and Sean Astin. That same year the actress lensed "Seamless", starring Kentaro Seagal as a fashion designer. After signing a three-picture deal with Miramax, she was cast in Dimension's horror spoof "Scary Movie" (2000), written by and starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans and directed by their brother Keenan Ivory Wayans.

After returning to the Nadia character for "American Pie 2" (2001), Elizabeth toiled in middling fare such as the "Pie" wannabe "Tomkats" (2001), the horror film "Thirteen Ghosts" (2001) and--surprisingly effective and vulnerable as the ass-kicking love interest Justice--in Kevin Smith's self-referential "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" (2001). After that, though, her big-screen roles seemed reduced, with a cameo in "Love, Actually" (2003) as one of the women who makes a dorky Brits fantasies about American women come true, and a small role in "Johnson Family Vacation" (2004) as Chrishelle, a sexy but flakey hitchhiker encountered by the vacationing family.

Instead, it looked as if Elizabeth's fortunes would be tied to TV. After several guest shots on series including "Just Shoot Me," "Off Centre" (created by the team behind "American Pie"), UPN's "Twilight Zone" revivial and a role in the well-reviewed, ripped-from-the-headlines telepic "The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth About Enron" (2003), in 2003 the actress took on a recurring role in the long-running sit-com "That 70s Show" playing Brooke, the woman Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) believes is having his baby. Meanwhile, Elizabeth focused her energies on developing a television series project that she could carry herself.
