Rubies are: Simone Rubi sings and plays electric piano/synths and sometimes guitar. Terri Loewenthal plays bass and sings. Amy Cooper plays guitar and sings. Rubies are known to travel around and use players from different cities for an ongoing experiment on sound.

the places where we are. the houses that we live in. the plants that grow around us. long converstaions about everything. heart explosions. simple modulations, lo-fi disco, teary love songs, pop, ambient channels through synthesis, complete sounds. rushing and then slowing down. lots of it. old folk songs. eric satie, antena, old dub, motown, dusty springfield, music for dancing, bergen, stockholm, san francisco, santa barbara, oakland, mexico, berlin. new disco, fleetwood mac, the marine girls, arthur russell, delay, paul mccartney, small towns, spacey psych jazz, ELO, the supremes, the pointer sisters, the zombies, hobbit folk, paul simon, california soul, simple prog, really good drummers, first kisses, bubblegum and any body that sings us a song that sounds like themselves.

Danceable folk, bedroom disco, and lost love laments; these are just a few facets of Rubies. California-based trio, Rubies, are three young ladies that push the boundaries of how we perceive pop music. The poised and dynamic range of songwriting keeps the listener excited by offering fresh and honest versions of future dancefloor and living room classics. Simone Rubi (lead vocals, keyboards) entices the crowd while Terri Loewenthal (bass) keeps them dancing. Add Amy Cooper's shimmering guitar, the harmonies of all three voices and beats provided by machine or borrowed man. While it could be in a crowded avant-garde discotheque in NYC, a motorik infused warehouse in Berlin, or the pine-needle carpeted redwoods of Big Sur, the energy of Rubies will have you dreaming of your first crush. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Rubies have just finished their first album. We were lucky enough to have helping hands from Eirik Glambek-Boe (Kings of Convenience) and his new group "Kommode", Leslie Feist, Karl-Jonas Winqvist (Blood Music), Dan Judd (Sorcerer), Lars Skoglund (Laakso, Peter, Bjorn and John), Maria Eriksson (The Concretes) and a small army of other talented folks from all over the world. Simone and Terri also play in the pop group "Call and Response" with albums out on Emperor Norton Records and Badman Recording Company and Amy has records out as "Amy Cooper." The Rubies album, "Explode from the Center" will come out on Rallye in Japan in October and we have a single coming out in January for the rest of the world 'I feel electric' which will have the Studio remix on it along with a great remix of "I feel electric". Our record will be coming out in March in Europe and Australia on Tellé records and in Sweden on Hybris. We are still looking for someone to put it out in USA and Mexico. Visit http://www.myspace.com/rubies for more info.
