Linux Hangs ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00)

hi, have you ever encountered this problem before. im booting linux and i the installation stops at:

monitor/mwait feature present.
using mwait in idle threads.
CPU: L1 I cache 32k, L1 D cache 32k
CPU: L2 cache: 2048k
mtrr: v2.0 (20020519)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 4300@1.80GHz stepping 02
Enabling fast FPU save and restore... done
Enabling unmasked SIMD FPU exception support... done
Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK
Checking if image is initramfs... it is

do you have any advice on how to fix this and what i need to do to overcome this problem.

i've never seen this error before im not sure how to fix it

what distribution are you installing?

redhat
fedora
madrake
debian
ubuntu

etc..

im actually running a rescue cd called SystemRescueCd

oh ok,

in that case at the boot prompt enter this:

vmlinuz2

and it should work

if i have one of those dritibutions you listed and im trying to boot off a cd/dvd how do i over come this error? any suggestions

ok, you can resolve it, or bypass this error if you boot with this command:

linux acpi=off

i was getting the same thing, but after you i read how to fix it here, i was not geting it anymore i was able to get it fixed, thanks for showing us how to fix this.
