If you have been told by the court or from your attorney lawyer that you have been accused of an infraction, this simply means that you cannot go to jail. with an infraction, you cannot go to jail. you'll probably just pay a fine. I had a friend who had to go to court because she was acused of a misdemeanor, when she went to court, she asked for a public defender, then when she went back to the trial, her lawyer worked out a deal to reduce the sentece from mistermeanor to an infraction. I think an infraction is the same as a traffic ticket. you can't go to jail for a traffic ticket.
